Continuing in my pursuit of panoramic format images without cropping I decided to modify an old film back for my Hasselblad 500CM. This actually has a couple of advantages over most Panoramic cameras including: SLR Through the Lens Viewing and Focusing (existing panoramic cameras use either a rangefinder or require zone focusing) and Interchangeable Backs allowing change of film mid-roll. Plus it fits with my existing Hasselblad V System which I really love and has many great lenses and accessories. Link to assembly guide at the end of the gallery.
Unfortunately the back has an issue where the tape that is used to hold the 3D printed masks in place can come unattached from the inside of the back and get caught on the film and cause a jam. The last time this happened I lost most of a roll of film and stopped shooting it for a while.
Recently however (Summer 2023) I saw on Reddit, somebody posted a picture of what looked like a factory made panoramic back. Upon inquiry further, I got in contact with the man who did the modification and ~$250 later, my A24 back was turned into a P27 back with proper gearing and a mask and rollers that behaves like a factory one and gives 27 images to a roll.
